2006 NWBA JUNIOR VARSITY NATIONAL CHAMPIONS: ST. LOUIS JUNIOR ROLLING RAMS
St. Louis has another team to be proud of: St. Louis Junior Rolling Rams Wheelchair Basketball Team. These kids are truly amazing and special athletes. They do what they love to do, and that is WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL!!!

The 2006 NWBA JV National Championship Tournament was held on March 17-19, 2006 in Omaha, Nebraska. The team remains undefeated this season with record 25-0 (seeded #1coming into the tournament). Sixteen teams from different states came to compete including: California, Michigan, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, New Jersey, Atlanta, Nebraska, and Washington. Four inches of snow fell in Omaha, NE early Sunday morning, but that didn't deter the goal of the Junior Rolling Rams---they were there for one reason and one reason only---to bring home the championship trophy they lost to the Mad City Badgers (Madison, WI) last year. It was a stressful, nail-biting experience for the parents as they watched their athletes play against the New Jersey Nets (seeded #3 coming into this tournament). The coach and team were pumped up and confident to win 51-39. The team's coach Doug Dupont received Coach of the Year Award during the Southwest Conference Championship Tournament held in Edmond, OK last month.

The St. Louis Junior Rolling Rams placed 1st in the Junior Varsity division at the NWBA Regional Tournament in Hot Springs, AR November 18-20, 2005. Placing 1st at this tournament qualifies the Junior Varsity team to attend Junior Varsity Nationals in Omaha, Nebraska March 17-19, 2006. The St. Louis Junior Rolling Rams also placed 1st in the Junior Varsity division at the NWBA Southwest Conference Championships in Edmond, OK February 10-12, 2006. The team won three other tournament conferences, St. Louis, Tulsa, OK and Dallas, TX. SLWAA is not surprised by the accomplishments of these skilled and talented juniors!

St. Louis Rugby Rams Moving Up at USQRA Sectionals
The USQRA Sectionals Tournament was held on March 17-19, 2006. Rugby Rams beat Jackson Jags and Pittsburgh Steelwheelers and lost to Chicago Bears and TNT, giving the Rams a 5th place finish out of 7 teams. The team has been working hard and is moving in the right direction! 1st through 4th places get to go to the national tournament and coach Sue Tucker states the team is “moving up slowly but surely--sure is a big improvement from last years 8th place finish out of 8 teams.” SLWAA agrees and can’t wait for the team to attend Nationals next year!

Congratulations again to both teams!
